10th edition of The Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) concluded in Jaipur

The 10th edition of The Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) concluded in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The GITB was organised by the Rajasthan Tourism Department, Ministry of Tourism, and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and supported Hotel and Restaurant Association of Rajasthan, Indian Heritage Hotels Association and Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators.

World Bank to lend $210 mn for rural roads in Madhya Pradesh

The Indian government has signed a $210 million loan agreement with the World Bank to improve the rural roads in Madhya Pradesh.

The project (Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project) will cover 10,510 km stretch of rural roads in Madhya Pradesh that fall under the Chief Minister’s Gram SadakYojana (CMGSY) program.

Uttarakhand to get 1,700 crore rupees aid from ADB for Infrastructure development

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed in principle to give an aid of 1,700 crore rupees to Uttarakhand for infrastructure development and creation of sewerage treatment facilities in urban areas.

This was conveyed to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat by the country director of ADB’s India Regiment Mission Kenichi Yokoyama at a meeting in Dehradun.

The two-day Secure India Conclave got underway in New Delhi on April 24, 2018. The conclave is being organised by Global Counter Terrorism keeping in view Prime Minister NarendraModi’s vision of New India : Secure India 2018.

Prime Minister NarendraModi launched the Rashtriya Gram SwarajAbhiyan today, at a public meeting, in Mandla in Madhya Pradesh. He unveiled a Road Map for overall development of tribals during the next five years.

The Union Home Minister, ShriRajnath Singh, chaired the third meeting of the Island Development Agency (IDA) In Delhi.

Mobile App (m-Awas) for allotment of General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) through Automated System of Allotment (ASA) launched 

Sh. HardeepPuri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (I/C) launched a Mobile App (m-Awas) for allotment of Government accommodations in General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) in Delhi under the control of the Directorate of Estates.

Sunderban Reserve Forest to get Ramsar site status.

West Bengal government has given its approval to State Forest Department to apply for coveted Ramsar Site recognition under Ramsar Convention to Sunderban Reserve Forest.

Once it is conferred Ramsar site status, Sundarbans Reserve Forest will be largest protected wetland in the country. There are currently 26 sites in India recognised as Ramsar wetland sites of international importance.



INTERNATIONAL NEWS

15th SCO Defence Ministers meeting held in Beijing

India is participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers Meeting for the first time. The 15th SCO Defence Ministers Meeting was held at Beijing in China.

RakshaMantriSmtNirmalaSitharaman highlighted India’s keen interest in developing an expanded partnership with the broader Eurasian region.



SPORTS

India win 8th South Asian Judo Championship

India have clinched the title of team champion in the 8th series of South Asian Judo Championship held in Nepal.

In the men’s team category, India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 3-2 in the finals to claim the title. Under the women’s team category, India thrashed hosts Nepal 5-0 to seal the title.

India ended their campaign in the tournament with a total of 12 Gold medals and three Bronze medals.

National Panchayati Raj Day (National Local Self-Government day) is the national day of India celebrated by Ministry of Panchayati Raj on 24 April annually.
